Time

Dulu aku pasti sangat bingung kalau ditanya seseorang "What's time is it?". Masalahnya aku selalu kebalik-balik untuk menyebutkan "Half Past"...."Quarter Past" ataupun "Quarter to". Nah kemarin selesai ngaji, aku meminta Nadia untuk membaca buku "Fun to Learn Time".....sekalian aku juga belajar gimana menyebutkan waktu-waktu tersebut.

Pelajaran tentang waktu ini mungkin dapat membantu mengingat kalau suatu hari ditanya sama adik nadia.....:-))

Dalam satu hari terdapat pembagian waktu :

On the hours
[a day is divided into blocks of time called hours]

@ The big minute hand takes one hour to travel right around the clockface.
@ The little hour hand takes one hour to move between two numbers on the clocks.
@ When the big hand is on the 12....we say it is something o'clock.

Half hours
[When the hour hand is half way between two numbers, we say it is half past the hour]

@ When it is half past, the big hand is on the six.
@ When it is half past, the little hand is between two numbers.
@ When the big hand is on the six, it has moved halfway around the clockface. We say it is half past something.

Quarter Past
[When the minute hand is on the three, we say it is quarter past the hour]

@ When it is quarter past, the big hand is on the three.
@ When it is quarter past, the little hand is just past a number.
@ When the big hand is on the three, it has moved a quarter of the way around the clockface. We say it is quarter past something.


.....kurang seperempat
Quarter To
[When the big hand is on the nine, we say that it is quarter to the hour].

@ When it is quarter to the hour, the big hand is on the nine.
@ When it is quarter to the hour, the little hand is nearly at a new number.
@ When the big hand is on the nine, it has moved three quarters of the way around the clockface. There is only quarter more to go. We say it is quarter to something.
